'Thank you Dr. Miklos and your staff! I cannot put into words what you have done for me. And to women, who are having similar experiences, I would recommend to go straight to Dr. Miklos, don’t mess around with other people who are less experienced and knowledgeable with these particular tears!'

So here’s my story, it’s kind of long. I found out I was pregnant in February of 2009. My husband and I were a little surprised by the pregnancy, well very surprised, but happy for the new baby on the way. The pregnancy went by just fine. Finally October came and the baby came a week after the due date. The labor was long, about 30 hours but I was able to deliver him vaginally after being told they scheduled me for a C-section.

We had a baby boy, but because he had meconium he was sent to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. After I had him I was having some discharge that I was told was the left over meconium, but a week went by and I was still having the discharge. I realized I had a tear that was more serious then the 1st degree tear that was repaired after the birth and that the nurse midwife had missed the tear at delivery.

1st Repair - failed

The Ob had me come in immediately, did an examination and found that I did indeed have a 4th degree tear and the midwife at the birth had missed the tear. I was scheduled for surgery within the next week. Unfortunately, the surgery only held for two days and when I called the Ob office to tell them it didn’t work they referred me to a colon-rectal specialist.

2nd Repair - failed

The new doctor did another examination and found the tear had re-opened and created a fistula. He recommended another surgery in 6 weeks. So after the New Year I went in for surgery again and this time the surgery lasted a whole week, but yet again it failed.

I tried to search for answers from the colon-rectal doctor, but he did not want to give me any real information. Frustrated with the treatment I was receiving I wanted to find another doctor. I caught a huge break when I found out about Dr. Miklos. At the time I was an intern at a chiropractor’s office in Tucker working to finish up my doctorate in chiropractic. One of the women who worked for the chiropractor also had had surgeries in the past that had failed, not for the same condition, but we chatted about our experiences. After sharing my story with her she told me about her daughter who worked for a Urogynecologist (which happened to be Dr. Miklos).

3rd Repair - cured

Lucky for me he could perform the surgery and not only that, he is one of the top rated surgeons in the world. I met with Dr. Miklos and to my surprise he was very informative, sat down with me and actually talked to me about what he would do and possible outcomes. He was very realistic yet reassuring which made me feel very comfortable. So into surgery I went for a third time, praying that this one would work! I felt much more confidant knowing I had Dr. Miklos in my corner though. Sure enough the surgery was a success, there were still a little bumps along the way, but I am 100% healed. It took a long time to heal and Dr. Miklos and his staff were wonderful to work with and helped me through the process every step of the way. I am so thankful to him and his staff for being so wonderful to my family and me. Now I get to enjoy my little 17-month-old boy everyday! Thank you Dr. Miklos and your staff! I cannot put into words what you have done for me. And to women, who are having similar experiences, I would recommend to go straight to Dr. Miklos, don’t mess around with other people who are less experienced and knowledgeable with these particular tears!

'Thank you (Dr. Miklos) for being such a caring and concerned doctor.'

Thank you so much for fixing me, for the first time in years I feel that I am regaining my life back. My husband keeps a good eye on me and comments on my weekly improvements. I am actually happy and not in pain all the time, a real miracle.

Again, my husband and I both want to Thank-You for being such a caring and concerned doctor. It is wonderful that I don’t have to sit on the sidelines of life and not to be in constant pain. Thank you again.

'I would fly from anywhere in the world to have you (Dr. Miklos) as my doctor '

It is my pleasure to inform you (Dr. Miklos) that, after 11 months of problems, infections and pain, it is now fun to pee again!!! I actually look forward to it! Ah, the things we take for granted in life.

As you know, I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer almost a year ago, had a total hysterectomy, and an intestinal blockage that I almost died from. In this past year, I have dealt with innumerable doctors and practices, but none with the unfailing professionalism, compassion and follow-up to compare to yours. You have done an outstanding job, not only in fixing my fistula, but in putting together a staff that is a dream to work with.

My husband and I pride ourselves on a pro-active approach to selecting our doctors, and ended up choosing you to do this surgery over our urologist of thirteen years. This was due not only to your reputation, but to meeting you in person and developing such confidence in you after that. During our first interview in your office, you took more time explaining to us exactly what was wrong with me, including using amazingly detailed photos, as well as the most in-depth description of how you were going to go about repairing this, that we have ever received. During that time we never felt rushed, as though you had to get on to the next person in the waiting room, and really felt like we were the only people in the world that mattered at that moment. You also scheduled my surgery on one of your slow days, so that you could take extra time if needed, and this also did not go unnoticed.

In your practice, the same person rarely answers the phone when I call, and no matter who it is, once I identify myself, that person ALWAYS took the time to address me by name and ask how I was doing. This is UNHEARD of in practices today. Your staff always made me feels special, ALWAYS called the next day if I had any problem to follow-up and see how I was doing, and never made me feel rushed to get me off the phone.

You may rest assured that, along with my sincere gratitude for restoring me to total urological (is that a word?) health, we will refer anyone who is in need of your services to you. I would fly from anywhere in the world to have you as my doctor, and it was definitely God working who allowed us to find you in our own backyard.

'I would bet my life that if anyone could fix me, it would be Dr. Moore.'

I had my hysterectomy on December 23, 2009. My pain finally ended here with Dr. Moore on October 12, 2010. I had a complicaition from my hysterectomy that caused me to have a bladder vesicovaginal fistula. I had 2 failed surgeries to fix my fistula. I then found Dr. Moore on the internet and after our first meeting, I knew that this doctor knew what he was doing, I would bet my life that if anyone could fix me, it would be Dr. Moore. After telling myself that I would not settle with anything less than 100%, I booked my surgery with Dr. Moore and wow... I have my life back.

'I would definitely recommend these doctors even if you have to travel thousands of miles like me. It was worth it!'

"July 2008, I developed a vescovaginal fistula 3 weeks after I was recovering from a complicated total abdominal hysterectomy with a severe case of endometriosis. On December 2008 my Urogynecologist first attempted to repair it through the vaginal approach, shortly after new years I had leakage from the vaginal area. Three months later I was given an alternative of proceeding with a subsequent repair through the abdominal route which a placement of an omental flap versus a repeated attempt through the vaginal route. I refused the abdominal route and went ahead to re-attempt the vaginal route again in March of 2009. After the March surgery a cystogram revealed no leakage or signs of a fistula and catheters were removed. Two weeks after, I developed another recurrence and another cystogram confirmed there was definitely a leakage in the vaginal area. My urogynecologist discussed again about having it repaired via abdominal route. I strongly wanted to have it repair laparoscopically, but the adhesions were a concern for my urogynecologist. I also did not want another laparatomy due to the experience of having a difficult time recovering from the total abdominal hysterectomy surgery.

I searched online and found Dr. Miklos. On October 2009 I emailed Dr. Miklos my questions and concerns, it was worth a try. I was very surprise to receive a quick response from him. Dr. Miklos was very helpful in answering and reading my medical notes even if I wasn’t a patient of his at that time. While I was emailing Dr. Miklos, my Urogynecologist in Hawaii offered to try a less invasive surgical procedure that would involve trying to repair the fistula with glue. It was worth a try before flying out to Atlanta. It was a chance I was taking and was hoping it would work. November 2009 I once again attempted to try it via vaginal route with glue, which at the end of the week the fistula recurred and I was faced with another disappointment.

With all 3 failed surgeries, I asked my Urogynecologist if she has heard about Dr. Miklos, which she did. I mentioned to her that I wanted to see him because he is known to conduct a repair laparoscopically. My Urogynecologist was very supportive with me seeing Dr. Miklos and felt that having the surgery completed successfully laparoscopically would be greater with Dr. Miklos. I contacted Rhonda at Dr. Miklos office and scheduled my appointment for March 2010. Rhonda was great and answered all of my questions I had, she was very easy to talk too and very supportive. I was very nervous traveling thousands of miles to have surgery done in a state that I’ve never been too, but when I got there the staff was very friendly I felt like I was at home in Hawaii. His staff arranged a hotel that was really close to Northside hospital which was very convenient for my husband & kids.

When I met Dr. Miklos, I immediately felt comfortable with him as he explained the procedure in detail and answered any questions my husband and I had. I felt he was very confident in his work, which made me even more comfortable and trusted him to perform the vesicovaginal repair. Today, I’m not dealing with anymore urinary pads, don’t have to worry about having an accident, and I’m able to do my normal activities. I live in Hawaii and haven’t been able to swim or jump into a Jacuzzi, now I can. I am so very, very happy I have my life back. I thank God that I was blessed to have met and have been treated under the care of Dr. Miklos & Dr. Moore and his wonderful and outstanding nursing and office staff, they are the BEST! I would definitely recommend these doctors even if you have to travel thousands of miles like me. It was worth it!!"

'Dr. Moore is literally one of the best doctors in the world and unlike most, will take the time to talk with you, answer any concerns, and just be down to earth.'

(Translated from Spanish below) I gave birth in January 2010 and suffered a 4th degree tear that was not properly repaired. Ten days later I went to the hospital after having complications. I was told there was a defect and that it needed to be repaired right away. It was repaired again and I went home. Turns out it was too soon after the initial repair to have that done, my tissue was too swollen. Three days later, I was devastated after an experience using the restroom and went back to the hospital and learned I had a rectovaginal fistula. It was such a horrific and depressing experience. It was a time when my husband and I were supposed to be full of joy, celebrating the birth of our wonderful son. I felt as though there was no hope and did not want another surgery.

My husband and I started doing research and were determined to find the best doctors no matter where we had to go. We learned of Dr. Moore and Dr. Miklos after doing research on extensive fistula repair. We learned they had actually performed skin grafts on some patients during fistula repairs at Brigham Women's Hospital in Boston, (a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School). We then searched where we could find these master surgeons and turned out they had an office in Atlanta. We called and talked with Rhonda, who from the beginning was compassionate, took the time to understand our situation, and assured us that we were at the right place and that all would be ok.

During our consultation with Dr. Moore, he explained what needed to be done and was very optimistic of the outcome. He was very thorough and wanted us to have some more tests done when we went back to North Carolina to make sure that everything was transparent. At Dr. Moore's urging we went and had an ultrasound done. We learned of a crucial factor that had to be addressed during the surgery.

I had my surgery performed by Dr. Moore in September 2010 and thank God I am completely well. He is truly a master surgeon who really cares for his patients. Dr. Moore is literally one of the best doctors in the world and unlike most, will take the time to talk with you, answer any concerns, and just be down to earth. His nurses are extremely helpful and friendly as everyone we have met at this practice. My husband and I are forever grateful.

'I strongly recommend Atlanta Urogynecology Associates to any woman who has vesicovaginal fistula.'

I had an open abdominal hysterectomy in January 2010. A few days later, I found I was always leaking and never dried. Upon CT scan in May, I was confirmed to have a vesicovaginal fistula. To my horror, all doctors I saw in Hong Kong suggested another open abdominal surgery for repair. I refused and searched on the internet for doctors who might be able to offer a less invasive approach.

The internet led me to Atlanta Urogynecology Associates. The laparoscopic operation videoed by Dr. Miklos brought me great interest. I contacted AUA and asked several questions on how my disease could be cured. Dr. Moore replied me with 5 miles of details on the laparoscopic procedure, how it would be done, how many small openings I will have, where the openings are, what hospital, how long I need to be in area, why laparoscopic is better than open surgery, and the after operation care, etc. He gave me great confidence that he is the doctor for me! Thus I confirmed the surgery with him. His assistants were also professional and helpful in the follow up. They advised me what test I needed to do and take to AUA. I was worry-free as they helped arrange the hospital and hotel.

From Hong Kong to Atlanta, the laparoscopic surgery took place in August. The operation went smoothly. There was no complication, no pain. It was as exactly as Dr. Moore described prior to the surgery. I was able to walk around the Perimeter Mall 3 days after the surgery. By end August after removing all devices, I flew back to Hong Kong. By then I was completely cured and returned to normalcy! I felt like a new born person. I was free at last of pads. It was a great relief, a feeling of joy and thanks!

I strongly recommend Atlanta Urogynecology Associates to any woman who has vesicovaginal fistula. On a scale of 1- 10, I give Dr. Moore and Dr. Miklos an 11!

'I met Dr. Miklos and I was impressed with him immediately…'

Dr. Miklos:

I was nervous scheduling surgery with a Doctor I hadn't met in fact I found Dr. Miklos through his website….. but after 2 failed surgeries in N.Y. I know I had to travel to find a Dr. that could help me. I needed a vescovaginal fistula repair, the doctors here wanted to go back in but I wanted a laproscopic procedure. I met Dr. Miklos and I was impressed with him (Dr Miklos) immediately, he had read through all my reports I had sent, knew precisely what the problems were, asked appropriate questions and listened to my extensively. He spent a great deal of time with me, the 1st appointment was amazing. When I left I knew I had made the right decision to travel out of state to see him. The rest went very well. The surgery, the stay in hospital even the days at the hotel I felt Dr. Miklos and his amazing staff and nurses were with me every minute. Even when I came home I felt he were still with me and available if I needed him but I didn't, the surgery was a success and several months later I have no symptoms. Wow, it was a big chance but it sure paid off, Dr. Miklos is wonderful, I would highly recommend him for anyone needing his skills. I know my Dr.s (urologists) up here will also refer patients to him.

A.S. — Baldwinsville, New York

'Their operative skills and techniques are definitely superior to the ones typically used by the Urologist or general Gynecologist.'

I have referred 2 patients this year to Drs. Moore and Miklos and I am extremely pleased with their professional care and follow up. One patient experienced a vesicovaginal fistula after her hysterectomy followed by a failed vaginal repair by a Urologist and myself. Rather than repair the recurrent vaginal apical fistula with open technique, I referred her to Dr. Moore to do a Laparoscopic Repair of Vesicovaginal Fistula at the apex of the vagina. The patient got excellent results with minimally invasive techniques developed by Drs. Moore and Miklos with only a short time in the hospital and short interval to return to work. Their operative skills and techniques are definitely superior to the ones typically used by the Urologist or general Gynecologist. This, in turn, benefits the patient in care, recovery and satisfaction. The time required to develop these specialty skills and techniques requires a large number patients with similar problems which fortunately, the general Gynecologist does not have. I also was allowed to observe the entire procedure which was educational in itself.

I would urge Gynecologists faced with failed or primary vaginal support problems, urinary incontinence problems, or post-op vesicovaginal fistulas, to consider referral for evaluation since I do believe Drs. Moore and Miklos’ skills in these areas offer the patient minimally invasive operations with good success and after all, that is the primary goal.

'Thank you, Dr. Moore for making my freedom possible.'

Dear Dr. Moore & Miklos:

My research into Vaginal Fistula Repair led me to Dr. Moore & Miklos, whose qualifications and experience in urogynaecology made me sure that he was the doctor who could repair my uncomfortable and emotionally distressing condition. I went to him in faith, with no references from my doctors in Trinidad, just the knowledge that God had led me to him.

My first experience with Dr. Moore’s office was with his receptionist/coordinator, whose knowledge regarding my condition and friendliness assured me of their professionalism and competence. Upon meeting the staff at Atlanta Urogynaecology I felt even more confident that I had made the right decision.

My consultation with Dr. Moore was very thorough and he answered all my questions and fears regarding the operation, putting me at ease and even drew diagrams to show me exactly what would be done during the surgery.

The post-operative care was excellent and I was guided through everything that could possibly happen after surgery and told how to manage any pains or worries. They were always available and this comforted me which aided my recovery. Dr. Moore made sure that I was supplied with all the necessary medication and information to ensure and safe, pain free and speedy recovery.

My recovery was excellent and the surgery successful and there has been no negative side- effects. I no longer need to wear extra protection (panty-liner). Whenever I think about what I endured for the past year the words "Free at last, thank God almighty I am free at last……" come to mind.
Thank You Dr. Moore for making my freedom possible.

'I am here because I hear you're the best.'

Dr. Miklos:

This patient came to us from Asheville, NC after having a failed attempt at her fistula repair by a well trained urogynecologist. She had a vaginal approach known as a Latzko procedure. After the surgery she began leaking again because unfortunately her repair failed. She then came to Atlanta Urogynecology Associates to see Dr. Miklos because as she simply stated "I am here because I hear you are the best."

'Your office has been the most helpful out of any other doctor's office i have ever seen in my life!'

Vesicovaginal fistula after Robotic Hysterectomy -- 2010

Ms M.S. came for an evaulation of her VVF after being seen at the University Hospital and two other urologists in Atlanta and she said: "your office has been the most helpful out of any other doctor's office i have ever seen in my life!"

M.S. — Atlanta, Georgia

'I would fly anywhere in the world to be part of the practice of Dr Miklos & Moore…'

This patient sustained a VVF after getting a hysterectomy for Ovarian Cancer. After the operation she had a continuous urine leakage from her vagina. She went to her Urologist who recommended a large incision (laparotomy) on her belly. The patient asked about a laparoscopic approach to the repair and going to see Dr Miklos & Moore and the urologist got ANGRY and basically dismissed her from the practice. The urologist did not think the surgery could be done by a laparoscopic approach. The patient had a laparoscopic VVF repair which took approximately 1 ½ hours and had the following to say:

"In this past year, I have dealt with innumerable doctors and practices, but none with the unfailing professionalism, compassion and follow-up compare to yours. You have done an outstanding job, not only in fixing my fistula, but in putting together a staff that is a dream to work with. My husband and I pride ourselves on a pro-active approach to selecting our doctors, and ended up choosing you to do this surgery over our urologist of 13 years. This was due not only to your reputation, but to meeting you in person and developing such confidence in you after that."

"You may rest assured that, along with my sincere gratitude for restoring me to total urological health, we will refer anyone who is in need of your services to you. If I had to do this again I would fly anywhere in the world to be part of the practice of Dr Miklos & Moore……. Today I am completely healed and could not be happier.

’I have had a 100 % recovery!’

Dr. Moore:

I told my Urologist I wanted this [fistula] repaired laparoscopically and he just said, "Good Luck". I found Dr. Moore on the web after having at least 6 tests done by other doctors before getting them to diagnose my problem. I have had a 100 % recovery!

W.K. — Oviedo, Florida

'I would recommend him to anyone who is suffering from vesicovaginal fistula.'

Dear Dr. Miklos and Dr. Moore:

This patient is a nurse from Marion, IN who unfortunately sustained a bladder fistula after a hysterectomy. She initially had a Latzko procedure (vaginal approach) and then 4 months later had a laparotomy (large belly incision) with an omental flap. She failed both of her initial fistula procedures performed by other surgeons.

"This is a thank you to Dr. Miklos for performing the surgery. I have been through 2 other attempts at vesicovaginal fistula (VVF) repairs and both were not successful. Dr. Miklos (and Dr. Moore) and staff were very professional, and yet made my husband and myself feel completely cared for. Dr. Miklos took the time before and after to answer all my questions regarding VVFs. I would recommend him to anyone who is suffering from vesicovaginal fistula. After dealing with vesicovaginal fistula for 2 years, I feel like I have my life back. Thank you Dr. Miklos."
